OCTAVIA MONACO nasce nel 1963 a Thionville nel nord della Francia da padre italiano del Salento e madre spagnola della Galicia. A sei anni si trasferisce in Italia , a Bologna, dove vive  e lavora. Intraprende la   formazione artistica nell’ambito dell’oreficeria che le ha trasmesso in eredità la  propensione alla trasformazione delle materia, la sensibilità alla cura dei dettagli e una gamma cromatica nei toni degli ossidi, che riproporrà intramontata nella successiva opera pittorica.

È  dapprima nell’editoria che l’universo  poietico e onirico incontra le iniziali possibilità espressive e immaginative, realizzando  illustrazioni per fiabe, leggende e miti, e  libri illustrati dedicati alle biografie di pittori illustri del passato, pubblicate in vari paesi del mondo non solo europei, ottenendo molteplici riconoscimenti quali l'esposizione degli orginali di Vi presento Klimt nella libreria del Louvre nel 2004.

Tale proficua esperienza ventennale e professionale, ha contribuito a caratterizzare la cifra stilistica che contraddistingue tuttora le sue realizzazioni artistiche.

Dipinge su legno opere le cui  visionarie figurazioni sono esito di un  inesausto confronto con gli antichi saperi  profusi dai repertori del mito, dal crogiuolo fertile delle suggestioni  alchimiche, dialogando anche  con le diverse soluzioni dell’arte  contemporanea.  Nel tempo si consolida la profonda, e spontanea tensione verso ciò che concerne l’ archetipo Femminino, particolarmente   nella relazione Donna e Natura. Tema fondante  quale filo d’oro di un’ intima ricerca iconografica e simbolica, riconoscendo inoltre,  nelle valenze  antropologiche, non solo l’elettivo nutrimento conoscitivo, bensì la prospettiva di un rinnovato anthropos in una rinnovata e sensibile comunione tra tutti gli esseri, per una idea di profondo valore, rispetto e armonia della totalità del mondo di Natura.

In particolare nella creazione dei trittici, Octavia, esprime una propria profonda,  spontanea e celebrativa spiritualità, che identifica l’anima individuale con l’anima mundi, annullando le differenze tra il sacro e il profano, percepiti non contrapposti, ma in un indissolubile continuum generativo di  tutte le forme del vivente, concepite inoltre, quali epifanie.   La sua  arte visionaria propone  differenti alleanze in cui le realtà biologiche rappresentano  delle realtà metafisiche, delineando un personale simbolico linguaggio surreale ed esoterico. Prende forma e vita nelle sue opere un mundus imaginalis , popolato di creature ibride,  che orchestrano  significanti e fluttuanti relazioni e contaminazioni tra l’uomo, l’animalità e la vita vegetale, superando  quelle dicotomie vigenti alla base delle concezioni e modalità predatorie che affliggono tutti gli elementi di Natura. 

Attraverso le proprie figurazioni suggerisce e, inoltre  declina,  la fondamentale valenza del processo circolare e ciclico quale legge ineludibilmente universale, nelle alternanze e coesistenze, di luci e ombre, deducibile dall’osservazione del mondo di Natura eletto quale Libro di Sapienza.

O.M. realizza ritratti personalizzati , in cui la donna  rimane il soggetto elettivo.

Espone le proprie opere pittoriche su legno in numerose personali e collettive.

Nel giugno  2022 sono stati pubblicati i XXII Arcani maggiori dei tarocchi "Le Tarot mistique",  ciclo pittorico su tavole di legno, realizzato in   due anni di dedizione,  che è diventato un pregiato mazzo di carte pubblicato dal Museo internazionale dei tarocchi ( vedi  home alla voce: Le Tarot Mystique)

ENGLISH BIOGRAPHY:

OCTAVIA MONACO was born in 1963 in Thionville in northern France to an Italian father from Salento and a Spanish mother from Galicia. At six years old he moved to Italy, to Bologna, where he lives and works. She undertook artistic training in the field of goldsmithing which gave her the legacy of a propensity for the transformation of materials, a sensitivity to attention to detail and a chromatic range in oxide tones, which she will re-propose timelessly in her subsequent pictorial work.

It is first in publishing that the poietic and dreamlike universe meets its initial expressive and imaginative possibilities, creating illustrations for fairy tales, legends and myths, and illustrated books dedicated to the biographies of illustrious painters of the past, published in various countries around the world, not just European ones, obtaining multiple recognitions such as the exhibition of the originals of Meet Klimt in the Louvre library on 2004.

This fruitful twenty-year professional experience has contributed to characterizing the stylistic signature that still distinguishes his artistic creations.

He paints works on wood whose visionary figurations are the result of an inexhaustible comparison with the ancient knowledge profuse from the repertoires of myth, from the fertile crucible of alchemical suggestions, also dialoguing with the different solutions of contemporary art. Over time, the profound and spontaneous tension towards what concerns the Feminine archetype consolidates, particularly in the relationship between Woman and Nature. Founding theme as the golden thread of an intimate iconographic and symbolic research, also recognizing, in the anthropological values, not only the elective cognitive nourishment, but rather the perspective of an renovated anthropos in a renewed and sensitive communion between all beings, for a idea of ​​profound value, respect and harmony of the totality of the world of Nature.

In particular in the creation of the triptychs, Octavia expresses her own profound, spontaneous and celebratory spirituality, which identifies the individual soul with the anima mundi, canceling the differences between the sacred and the profane, perceived not in opposition, but in an indissoluble continuum generative of all living forms, also conceived as epiphanies. His visionary art proposes different alliances in which biological realities represent metaphysical realities, outlining a personal symbolic surreal and esoteric language. A mundus imaginalis takes shape and life in his works, populated by hybrid creatures, which orchestrate significant and fluctuating relationships and contaminations between man, animality and vegetal life, overcoming those dichotomies in force at the basis of the predatory conceptions and methods that afflict all the elements of Nature.

Through his figurations he suggests and also declines the fundamental value of the circular and cyclical process as an inescapably universal law, in the alternations and coexistence, of lights and shadows, deducible from the observation of the world of Nature chosen as the Book of Wisdom.

O.M. he creates personalized portraits, in which the woman remains the elective subject.

He exhibits his pictorial works on wood in numerous solo and group exhibitions.

In June 2022 the XXII Major Arcana of the tarot "Le Tarot mystique" was published, a pictorial cycle on wooden tables, created in two years of dedication, which has become a precious deck of cards published by the International Tarot Museum (see home at voice: Le Tarot Mystique)
